College Wednesday - Know Somebody Like This?
Happy Hump Day everyone. Thank goodness we are half in this week and half way out. It's a short one for me, but I'm still ready for it to be over all the same. It's that time again, College Wednesday, where we summarize 99% of the people you'll ever meet in college or in life. This week we introduce The Ethnic Treasure and The Exam Begger. I'm sure we all know some one like these two characters today. You be the judge:

Ethnic Treasure - Comes from a multi-ethic background, and will constantly bring this up. They will write articles in the school paper about how delightfully confused they are about knowing which ethnic stereotypes to conform to.

It's no secret that some multi-culture individuals love playing a victim role. They have to make it known every chance that they get that they are a mixed race. They use this as an excuse whenever they feel they've been done wrong. Play that multi-race card! True victims of the swirl! My niece and nephew are multi-culture children and I have told them on numerous occasions, you don't have to announce that you are both black and white, because that is already a given fact. No one wants to be reminded of this. You will not play the role of a victim and there is no need to be confused. I think it's easier for them in their generation than it was back in the day. Now days, people lie and say that they're mixed, but they truly aren't. Slap some weave in your head and you have certified Native American blood flowing through your veins. Now you're accusing people of hating on you because of your culture and that you can't help it if you have "good hair". Please beat it, you and everybody else knows that is a weave in your head! I love my multi-culture people, but please stop victimizing yourself and accept both sides of you, because both cultures are truly what made you who you are.

The Exam Begger - This person cannot take a test without first begging for as much review or information as possible. They cannot prepare for a test without first knowing seemingly unimportant details like "How many questions are on this test?" They will beg for extra review sessions, extra credit, and to know the exact breakdown of how the test is scored. They will waste the whole class when a test is announced if the professor doesn't shut them up. They will also spend the entire first session of a class, when the syllabus is presented trying to make homework a much higher percentage of the total grade.

I know that most would say that a person could never be too prepared for a test, but I also know we've all met this person described above. Hell, some of you may even be that person. I for one do not dig irrelevant information. All things that have been gone over for you on multiple occasions should not have to be repeated again. If you don't get it by now, then give it up. Most of my professors in school that were considered to be "strict, irrational, an asshole or a bitch", I loved them! They did not waste any time on things that have already been outlined in full detail in the syllabus given to the students on the first day. On the other hand, some professors let students like the Exam Begger carry on for almost 2 class periods about the review, outline and scoring breakdown of the test. Everybody else is mad as hell. It's always one! Always one! Stop begging and take the test! If we all fail, pray for a curve!

Alrighty, well that concludes this week's College Wednesday. I have a crap load of work here on my desk that needs some attention. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. See ya next week!
My Tuesday Rambles
First day back in the office and it has been hell on wheels! I have come to the conclusion that people lose their minds when I go on vacation. All kinds of stuff out of place on my desk, misplaced files, invoices in the wrong files, all my staples gone and my inbox full! I was truly pissed when I came in this morning. It took me an hour to correct all the things that had been done wrong on my absence. It was made pretty hard for me to start this day off positive, but I think I succeeded here in the end.

This is my day to let out whatever it is that I want to let out. I could say a lot of things about a lot of people, but I don’t think I'll go there today. I'll leave that for another time. I will say this; I have gone through plenty of things in my life at the age of twenty-four and I have been made aware of the fact that sometimes our pride does need to be put aside. This however, leaves me wide open to get spit upon and stepped over. It so much easier telling people to kiss my ass rather than me kissing theirs. I can't do it any longer. I tried to turn the other cheek and remain with open arms and I've been looked completely over. Do I continue to silently be made a mockery of or gather what dignity I have left and push forward? I opt for the second choice. I have a lot of love in my heart, but fuck what you heard; Mica does not stick around where she is not wanted. With that said, a final peace to you and your crew.

I just now got to a breaking point in my work and it's time to go! Having a stack up to the ceiling of work is one of the things that make me not want to take a few days off. I only took a break to work even harder on my return. How much is the Texas Lotto right now? I need to start playing. That might be a hopeless dream, but hey I might hit it. I'll keep one of these jobs, but I'm chunking deuce to the other. I think what made this day so hectic is that I had a 2 hour meeting on sexual harassment in the work place. A break down of Title VII Civil Right Acts of 1964. I believe the information needed to be delivered, but not for 2 hours. People in this office truly did need to take heed to the information. All of the sexual harassment and racism in this piece! I found it odd how they mentioned every reason for a suitable claim except sexual orientation. As if homosexuals aren't harassed everyday in the work place, as if they aren't turned away from good jobs due to who they choose to love. Figures! They mentioned gender, race, religion, age (40+), national origin and ADA (American Disability Acts). People are forever talking down on gays around here, but I guess that's the only thing they can KEEP doing after the meeting today.

Man, I need the guidance of the Lord this week, I can say that now! I'm pretty tight right now and I need to loosen up quickly. This could be dangerous…
Mi Casa - Quote of the Week
Being that the quote of the week is so darn long, I'll just get right into it.

What is home?
"A roof to keep out the rain?
Four walls to keep out the wind?
Floors to keep out the cold?
Yes, but home is more than that.
It is the laugh of a baby,
the song of a mother,
the strength of a father,
warmth of loving hearts,
lights from happy eyes,
kindness, loyalty, comradeship.
Home is first school and first church for young ones, where they learn what is right, what is good, and what is kind, where they go for comfort when they are hurt or sick; where joy is shared and sorrow is eased; where fathers and mothers are respected and loved, where children are wanted; where the simplest food is good enough for kings because it is earned; where money is not as important as loving-kindness; where even the tea kettle sings from happiness. That is home. God bless it!" - Anon.

That sounds lovely doesn't it? Sadly, everyone's home isn't this pleasant. I can't say that I had a horrible household growing up. Although, it wasn't as functional as it could've been; my best memories as a child are the moments spent at home. I think that way now that I've experienced the outside world a bit away from home. Problems and issues that I had with my parents could have been alot worse and I recognize that fact. I no longer blame my childhood as an excuse for my present. When I was living there, it was a totally different story, loll. However, even back then when things went on at school or something, I always recited those "I wanna go home" words. So there was indeed some comfort that came from within those four walls. In fact, when I have troubles and worries in my own household being an adult, I will get this sudden urge to go back home and just lay in the bed with my parents. Or just be near them for an extended amount of time and hear them tell me that everything will be alright. Sometimes, I'll stay so long that my dad begins to wonder if I was evicted and did I even still have a home to go to.

I didn't come from a household full of brothers and sisters; it was just me, my mother and my father. I grew up the only child in the home, which had its pros and cons. I wouldn't say that I was smothered with attention and affection, but I can say that I didn't have to worry about sharing it, loll. I probably could've used a little bit more listening ears and "I love yous", but all in all I think I turned out to be a pretty good woman. Well, despite what some may think!

Home is a beautiful place in my opinion. I know there are alot of people out there that will quickly disagree with me. Especially in today's time. All these broken homes, unwanted, abused and molested children, unemployed individuals, domestic violence and so on and so forth. Some might say, that their home isn't the best place on earth to reside and would give anything just to get away. It's not supposed to be like that though, and my prayers go out to the people that suffer within their home. Much respect goes out to the parents still maintaining that healthy household, and keeping up with a place that their kids, family and friends can call a home of joy and love.

I didn't get a chance to go home this weekend, but next weekend I'm packing the overnight and spending some quality time with my folks. Honestly right now, I do wanna go home...
T.Nicole's Movie Review - Cloverfield
Cloverfield

Okay so from time to time I get into my movie critic role and drop a movie review on ya'll folks. So me and my ex were watching this movie today. I heard a lot of mixed reviews on it from other people, but I know that sometimes my taste can be off from most people so I wanted to check it out for myself. Now my ex had seen the movie before and she liked it from what I was persuaded to think. Now my favorite type of movie is suspense with a realistic plot to it. However, I do like those natural disaster movies where things and people get blown up or destroyed by some non-human being. I thought this was one of those movies. It was, but not in the way that I expected.

Photobucket I'm not sure if anyone has seen the Blair Witch Project, but if you thought that movie was horrible, DO NOT WATCH CLOVERFIELD. Had it not been for my ex, I would have been turned that mess off. I get nervous when things jump from one thing to the next with not sensible explanation. Not to mention pissed off when I'm looking at someone's feet for an extended amount of time during the movie. People were getting blown up, knocked out and killed and due to the freaking' camera movement I didn't see what was the cause of it until the end of the film! Highly upset and disappointed in this film.

Cloverfield Honestly, if the entire move was not filmed by one of the actors, I think it would've been alright. Even though it was very unrealistic and some of the scenes in the move were outrageous. I still wonder to this day, why most of these disaster movies take place in NYC. I use to want to reside in New York too, but I don't think I'm cut out for it, loll. I'll stay my ass in Texas (where the ground is now sinking in!), thanks!

If anyone has watched Cloverfield, let me know your personal thoughts on it. Was it as crappy to you as it was to me?

Lazy Week - Weekly Re-Cap
I am going to declare this past week as my "lazy week". I'm not too proud of that, but then again I'm not ashamed of it either. I took my vacation day yesterday and I loved it. I so graciously called into Comcast and told those suckers and I would not be slaving for them between my normal weekly hours of 5:00-9:00. Had I gone into work last night, I'm not sure how many people would still be Comcast customers once they got ahold of me and I'm not sure if I would still be a Comcast employee. My supervisor is vacationing in Italy anyway, so I wasn't really concerned about it. So all in all, my week was alright I suppose. I know that there is a lot of things that I could've gotten done, but when I'm in vacation mode; all else is a wrap.

At this moment I am here at work, dreadfully taking these calls one by one. It's not too bad, so I decided to take the time out to write my weekly re-cap blog. Usually these are written onFriday, but I was so into reading other blogs I straight up forgot to write my own. Although a day late; I still have the thoughts resting on my dome to be released. As I sit here and think about this "lazy week" of mine; I ask myself what is the real reason I get into this mode? I sense that my vulnerable phase lasted longer than anticipated. I psyche myself out at times infecting my mind with negative thoughts. Sometimes I feel as if there is so much more that I can and should be doing in life. Granted I work 16 hour days; I still feel as if I'm trapped in this whirlwind that will
never end at times. When will the cycle end? I make myself believe in my own invented hype that nothing has changed for me financially and that I'm over working myself for no reason at all. So I become rebellious and go into my "lazy" state. I slack on my grind big-time! I should have gone into work yesterday evening and owned that extra cash. Instead I called in thinking that it wouldn't matter one way or another. Sad, sad, sad.

I did a little bit of shopping yesterday and it wasn't really until then that I realized that I honestly have come along way since I started these long work days. Wish shopping, strolling through every section of my most favorite store on earth, Best Buy; I thought back to this time last year and remembered the sleepless nights I had, the hungry days and the over drafted bank account status. 2007 started off a tad bit rough for me. I was all alone in my first apartment for the very first time. It was nothing like dorm life away from home as I tricked myself into believing it would be. I was in a world with people I didn't know (or didn't want to know for that matter), in a not so safe neighborhood, miles away from my parents, all alone. This is when I really started to get closer to my best friend at the time. I depended on her mentally for a lot. She helped me get through some very hard times. My life was intensely altering at the beginning of 2007.

Now here I am; in a new place, in which I absolutely love, my faith is a lot stronger in God, I'm slowly beginning to except change as a good thing, I'm financially content (not stable, but content, loll.), I have two great jobs that have helped strengthen my patience with people. Everything is not going to be the way I'd like it to be, because of the simple fact that I'm human and I'll more than likely never be satisfied. There will always be something lacking in my life, due to the imperfections of myself and this world. I am anxious to jump head first into next week and tackle it at full force since I slacked on my grind this week.

In the meantime I am going to finish enjoying this lazy weekend of mine; watching movies on the high def. idiot box and catching up on some much needed sleep. I'm still undecided as to if I want to go to my parents house tomorrow or not. I just might go spend some time with the folks. I truly do dig our relationship now that I'm NOT at home, loll. I do hope everyone enjoys their
weekends and if you're having a lazy one like me, I know it'll be good.

T.[Nicole] signing off - Life is truly about attitude and perspective. Unfortunately this week my attitude was jacked up and my perspective was severely blinded.
